quiet and relaxed. o.k. for stop over but pretty basic
need to point out that b'fast was continental, english b'fast £6 per head extra..
Good points were the staff were friendly.
Ok for one night stay. Room could have had a spring clean, dirty cups, dusty! Could do with updating. Cost £70 + £6 each for cooked breakfast. Been to cleaner, better B&B's for £60 elsewhere.
Didn't mention that the full English breakfast was not part of the inclusive breakfast until I checked out and so had to pay extra for it.
extra charge for breakfast - the place missed out, after finding out about that we went out for dinner/drinks
Very friendly and accomodating staff. Excellent surroundings. Food to high standard, comfortable , clean and warm atmosphere in rooms
Pleasant setting with attractive rooms
Bathroom not clean. Pubic hair on toilet seat, yellow stain under seat. Toothpaste smeared round basin and on splashback. Previous occupant's wet flannel in shower tray, no soap. No hot water in the morning - had to have a cold shower. The place needs much better attention to detail.
I booked a single room and was upgraded to a really super double. The staff were very pleasant. I would be very happy to stay again.
Bar price and restaurant very expensive.
Very pleasant staff and room quiet and comfortable. Highly recommended
Friendly, reasonable rate, modern room, traditional hotel, nice toiletries in room, great manager (Hayley), good shower, lovely food for dinner, free mini pudding!
chilly in room, stained sheet, no hairdryer (provided when requested), TV reception sporadic, TV at an immovable angle to the bed, very bad sound proofing
Very friendly and helpful staff, Rooms in an adjoining converted building were unassuming but perfectly adequate and clean and tidy. Good breakfast very reasonable price we decided to stay an extra night. The hotel has won many awards which are well deserved.
We were disappointed with the a la carte dinner.Portions we felt were modest and with most main course options a vegitable selection was extra.
I had booked a twin and a double room, and was actually allocated two double rooms which wasn't suitable. Breakfast selection was not as suggested on menu. Sound proofing of rooms was very poor.
I had room 5 which I found excellent for comfort and convenience.
I was disappointed that I could not order a sandwich at 5.45pm. The sandwich menu in my room did not state any serving times for sandwiches, but I assumed if it was before dinner service began at 6pm that would be ok. As I did not want a dinner having had a large lunch during my journey, I had to walk to the village shop for a snack. I suggest the sandwich menu in the room clearly states the hours one is permitted to order.
Staff were friendly, helpfull. Room great and breakfast had lots of choices.
We stayed to attend a wedding at nearby Castle heddingham. It was difficult, well impossible to book a taxi to and from it.
A lovely olde English country pub with a great bar and restaurant. the rooms are comfortable and clean and the staff very friendly and efficient. The only problem with the rooms is that they are in a separate prefab block and soundproofing between the rooms is extremely poor indeed.
The hotel building was full of charcter and the rooms in the annexe followed this through. Especially liked the wrapped biscuits in the room, which were replaced on the 2nd day. Well designed and very clean. Staff were friendly. Breakfast was great.
